The following three questions are here to help you notice patterns; not to diagnose or label anything.
Before reflecting on the questions, spend a moment thinking of the relationship you are feeling, or have felt, unsure about, specifically in the qualities of that relationship experience in the last 3 to 6 months.
Once you have it in mind, consider each of the questions below.
Answer each with either a yes or a no.
Regardless of how many times it has been true for your relationship, if you’ve felt it at least once, answer yes. Answer no if it has never applied to your relationship.
Answer honestly. Perhaps make a note in a journal or on your phone with your responses. Take your time.
This is just for your eyes, no one else’s.
Not sure what you’re experiencing in your relationship?
Do you (or did you) often feel that something isn’t quite right in your relationship, but struggle to explain why?
Do you (or did you) find yourself repeatedly trying to analyse or explain your partner’s behaviour or mood changes to try to make it make sense?
Do you (or did you) second-guess your own reactions, or wonder if you’re overthinking or misinterpreting things?

These questions don’t provide answers, but they often highlight where clarity is needed. If you’d like to understand what you’re experiencing in a more structured, private way, the Relationship Clarity Check tool is designed to help you map these patterns step-by-step to determine more clearly whether harmful or coercive patterns are, or were, present in your specific relationship.
